An eerie mix of modern rock and alternative neoclassical melodies: Sangriento is where metal meets experimental, dripping in blood.

The story behind Sangriento began in 2010 when bassist Nic and ex-drummer Ryu began playing covers of symphonic metal legends X Japan. Guitarist Han soon joined, but finding like-minded musicians to cover these technically demanding songs was not easy, and Sangriento had several lineup changes even as they found great success as a cover band and began writing original material.

In 2015, Sangriento jumped back into action as one of nine bands selected nationwide for the annual Noise Music Mentorship Programme, training under the guidance of Brandon Khoo. Sangriento also emerged as the national champions of the Yamaha Asian Beat competition, and represented Singapore at the grand finals in Tokyo in December 2015, before embarking on a short tour in the Tokyo live house scene and releasing a single, "Wanderer". In 2016, Sangriento took a more groove-oriented direction and released their debut EP, "Ghosts of the Past". Sangriento then made another tour around Tokyo to promote the EP.

After 2016, Sangriento decided to make a return to their symphonic metal roots. Inspired after their 2016 tour, Han wrote the first draft of a story, and the band began to write new songs based on chapters of the story. Sangriento is proud to welcome vocalist Candice and drummer Christal to be part of this new project, “Blood Pact”. Sangriento was selected to be part of the Baybeats Festival 2018, and debuted some of the tracks from the upcoming album "Blood Pact" at the festival. The album "Blood Pact" launched on 26 Jan 2019 at Aliwal Arts Centre, alongside the comic drawn by Christal, and is now available on all major online platforms.

Since then, Sangriento has been working on a follow-up album, with a wide range of tracks from their signature operatic sound to progressive electronic metal hits. Follow us on Instagram for the latest updates!
